Abstract
The rapid advancement of Artificial Intelligence (AI) technologies has outpaced the evolution of regulatory frameworks in the European Union, raising critical questions about the effectiveness of law enforcement mechanisms in safeguarding fundamental rights without hindering innovation. This research focuses on analysing the effectiveness of enforcement, specifically regarding the application of financial sanctions proposed by the existing EU governance model in the context of AI legislation. Financial sanctions have traditionally been seen as tools to ensure compliance, penalise unethical AI practices, and compensate for damages.
